Vintage Inspiration - Actress Beverly Tyler

There's only very little known about this actress. Not even Wikipedia could help, but when I found a picture of the in that polka-dotted swimming suit, it suddenly came to my mind that even the starlets that are long forgotten now had so much more style than many so-called stars of today.

Her real name probably was Beverly Jean Paul, she was born on July 5th 1927 and was "pushed" into movie business by her mother. Still a teen, she signed her first contract with MGM. There she attended school and shared a classroom with Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Powell, Margaret O'Brien, Virginia Weidler and Vicki Lane. She appeared in some movies in the mid-40s and early 50s, and she dated various actors like Tom Drake, Hugh O'Brian and Mickey Rooney.

Tyler also had a short romance in the early 50s with Johnny Stompanato, but was divided by a studio executive to break off. He later had an absusive and violent relationship with Lana Turner and got killed by Turner's daughter Cheryl in 1958.

1962 she married James C. Jordan, comedy-writer and director. They son James W. was born 1963. The couple moved to a ranch near Reno, where she appeared in  the city's theater.

On November 23rd, 2005, she died, sever years after her husband.

  3. Such a classic, timeless beauty. I love, and would wear, each and every one of her hairstyles and lengths here (the shorter ones in particular are calling to me). Thank you for this great look at a terrific yesteryear starlet.

Many hugs & joyful springtime wishes,
    ♥ Jessica
