About Me

I'm a 40+ Swiss and live in Northern Switzerland, just a couple of minutes away from the Rhine and the border to Germany. Growing up I used to try out everything crafty with scissors, paper, paint, fabric, yarn, wood... I realised that I'm able to do almost everything by my own, and I know I never felt bored. There was a lot I did, and painting bone china, restoring antique furniture, designing mohair artist bears was what shaped me most and even years ago showed my love for past eras and very old crafts.
At the same time, I have always been a bookworm and I loved everything about history. After school I went to university and earned a degree in - well, History, and in German Linguistics. When my husband and me decided to get married, I was looking for a pattern to sew my wedding gown. I found so many gorgeous patterns from the 1940s and 1950s. The old Hollywood movies and their film stars are my epitome of style, and I started collecting patterns and other sewing related stuff from that time. As we now have two kids, my budget is rather limited, so I seldom buy true vintage garments, but rather try to make my own reproductions.
It took some time to find out I feel much more comfortable when I wear vintage stile on an everyday base than just for certain occasions. So over the last decade, not only due to my love for vintage, my life changed quite a bit. Even though some people regard me as an odd duck and I sometimes I stuck out like a flamingo in a flock of pigeons, I wouldn't go back to wear average, contemporary clothing.
